Delivering the Noosa Plan vision
Noosa Council decisions and actions to be grounded in the 20-year vision of the Noosa Plan and in constant assessment of benefits for the community.
Transparency excellence
Council will as much as possible be open for scrutiny and foster transparency and accountability as part of its commitment to the community.
Biosphere community, economy & nature in harmony
Council to facilitate a Noosa Biosphere working group to reconfigure the existing Noosa Biosphere model so it takes on the more balanced approach envisioned by UNESCO of resilient community and thriving economy in harmony with the natural environment.
A Noosa River for all
The Council will act in good faith in reviewing and then implementing the Noosa River Plan which should cater for the reasonable expectations of all river users.
Transport & traffic solutions
It’s urgent to put the Transport Strategy and Cycling and Walking Strategy on track. A special case will be made for Hinterland public transport and improved access to medical and higher education facilities in Maroochydore and the Sunshine Coast university hospital precinct.
Valuing local business & jobs
Facilitate a robust Shire economy focused on relevant industry sectors and job creation by actioning and resourcing Council’s Economic Development Strategy and Unit and working with business to achieve outcomes.
A start made on affordable housing
Implement the Council’s housing strategy and employ measures at its disposal to identify land and housing providers to construct affordable housing.
Responsible and respectful behaviour
An effort will be made to change the Council culture by insisting on respectful behaviour by Councillors, ceasing their weaponisation of complaints to the State agency, and proper adherence to the legislation and Standing Orders.
Health & Wellbeing prioritised
The Council will prioritise Noosa residents’ health, medical needs and wellbeing, including by enabling construction of medical facilities in Coastal and Hinterland areas.
Enforcing the short stay letting local law
Council needs to improve the complaints mechanisms and compliance for approved and unapproved properties to put a stop to short stay letting that occurs under the radar.
