Delivering the Noosa Plan vision

The Issue

Council decision-making is often distorted by ignoring the all-encompassing vision of the Noosa Plan, instead focusing on narrow rules, biases, and political game-playing.  This hampers Noosa Shire moving towards its desired future.

My Policy

Noosa Council decisions and actions to be grounded in the 20-year vision of the Noosa Plan and in constant assessment of benefits for the community.

Background

The Noosa Plan’s 20-year timeframe envisions that the Council will ensure community well-being, economic prosperity, the protection of the Shire’s natural assets, sustainable population growth, ecologically sound urban development, affordable housing and a managed response to climate change.

Council decision-making frequently ignores this breadth of vision enshrined in the Noosa Plan. And so the vision is lost.

My Action

I will call for briefings for Councillors about the vision contained in the Noosa Plan to enable forward-thinking decisions and, in need, variations or compromises to achieve the full scope of the Noosa Plan’s aspirations for the future.
